It's time to take you back in time. Do you remember a year, growing up, that "A Christmas Carol" wasn't on TV? Neither do I. It was was always the big 3: A Christmas Carol, It's A Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street.

Luckily, "It's A Wonderful Life" is on NBC at 8 pm on Christmas Eve. And AMC has "Miracle On 34th Street" beginning at 5:45 pm on Saturday and running all day Sunday. Even on Christmas Eve.

But where is "A Christmas Carol"? I don't mean the Disney version or the Smurf version, I mean the real stuff! With Reginald Owen from 1938 or even George C. Scott's?  TCM had one earlier this week and then the only other showing is with George C. Scott (do kids even know who he is?) at 4:30 pm on Christmas Eve. Last year, it was on only one time.

This is a classic people! Charles Dickens wove a great tale of how seeing the error of your ways can change your life and bring joy into your heart. It's full of intrigue, mystery and even a little romance. It's timeless. So why isn't on?

Since I don't program these shows, I have no clue. What I do know is that I miss it.
There was no one like Ebeneezer Scrooge. Mean, gruff but deep down a caring soul. And Tiny Tim. Hello! Even Mary Lou Retton got to portray him, kind of. A sweet, crippled child who saw the good in everything. I don't think anyone can say they didn't cry when the scene with his crutch in the corner came on.

If you miss it like I do, I guess we have to turn to Redbox or Netflix (or something similar) to
get our fix.

Ahhh, to be young again. Bah humbug TV networks!

And Merry Christmas to you.
