The 5 Things I am Thankful for, #4.....

I am thankful for people who step up to help others. People like Bert and Fawn Proper, from American Legion Post #80 in Binghamton. They, along with other Post members, took it upon themselves, to start a collection drive to bring supplies to Staten Island, to help Hurricane Sandy victims.

Bert is the Commander of Post #80 on Main Street and they have been doing a lot of work for years, to help Veterans, as well as others. When asked to help us out with our Halloween Parade here at TownSquareMedia, he did not hesitate to say yes. He as offered his hallowed halls to us for anything we ever want to do in our efforts to help others. Thank you Bert and Fawn. You are true friends.

I also give thanks for friends like Gabe Oakley. Gabe has been one of the driving forces of Cruisin'Pallooza for years.  Gabe is one of the people instrumental in making sure that that the American Cruizers Car Club is there to help, when people need it. Gabe and the club, along with other countless car people, are there for us every year to help raise an amazingly huge amount of food for CHOW.

Gabe never asks for credit and for money, he just asks that people show up, have a good time and contribute to a charitable organizations he and the car club supports. There are times Gabe may ruffle some feathers, but there is no one I would rather have help me pull off a car show. When I have asked, he as been there. Thank you, Gabe.

One more group I am thankful for, is the Binghamton Harley Owners Group. Two years ago I asked that they join us, to help bring a BIKE DAY, to the Cruisin'Pallooza. With that effort they have helped us to double the amount of food/cash, that we can deliver to CHOW (community hunger outreach warehouse)

Don, Wah all all the rest of the Binghamton HOG, are instrumental in making sure that needy children across our area have a Christmas. With all the events they run year round... the poker runs, Tioga Downs Bike Show, Christmas for Kids Ride and more, they raise a ton of money to help buy toys for need children during the holidays. I got a chance to help them shop for toys last year for the kids, and it is a memory I will always cherish. Thank you, all! You Guys Rock!

Are there people in your community that you are thankful for?
