One Of America's Best Ghost Stories Is 70 Miles From Binghamton

Do you believe in ghosts? Many do. I do not, although I have no proof they don't exist, but then again no one has shown me proof that they exist.

Either way, it's fun to imagine they do, and many agree with me. The paranormal is popular. Movies about ghosts are plentiful, haunted houses and objects are everywhere. All a scary good time, or is it?

We have a local ghostly story from the Roberson Manion on Front Street with the owner, Alonzo Roberson Jr. Have you ever felt his presence while walking through the mansion?

The website Stacker recently compiled a list of 25 Reportedly Haunted Places In America, and while the Roberson Mansion was not on the list, four are located in New York State. Two are located in New York City -The Jane Hotel and the Merchant's House Museum. Western New York is no the top 25 with the Roycroft Inn in East Aurora.

The 4th is located just north of Binghamton, just a bit southwest of Syracuse. But, it's not a building, it's a road. Cedarvale Road in Onondaga to be exact. It's a one-mile stretch of the road that has been dubbed '13 Curves On Onondaga Hill.'

According to the Haunted History Trail website, over six decades ago, a tragic car crash occurred on a portion of Cedarvale Road. And apparently, the '13 curves' are haunted by those who died in the horrible crash.

Stacker notes: "Legend has it that a newlywed couple faced tragedy there, and in one version of the story, the bride survived and is forever in search of her lost husband."
