Now that the N.H.L. season is over, the A.H.L. season is almost over, (Grand Rapids leads Syracuse 3 games to 2 in the Calder Cup Finals) I'm already looking forward to next year.

When Ottawa announced that they were pulling out of Binghamton after this season, the rumors started to fly as to which team would call the Floyd L. Maines Veteran's Memorial Arena home next season. It was announced earlier this year that the Albany Devils would be moving to Binghamton for the 2017-2018 season.

As I've said before I'm a Philadelphia Flyers fan so I have a certain level of dislike for the New Jersey Devils. With that being said, I will still go to the Binghamton Devils games and root for our hometown team.

In a way, I'm glad the team replacing the Senators also have the color red in their uniforms. Broome County just had all the seats replaced a few years ago and went with the color red because of the Senators. How much would that have sucked if the new Binghamton team didn't have red in it? Along with the red seats, the walls on the concourse were painted red as well.

The county, team, or owners, all even all three of them, will have to make some changes at the arena. I'm sure they will be taking down all of the Senators logos except for the banners that hang from the rafters. But the sign pictured above is over the doors to the home locker room. The Senators' heads on the scoreboard will probably be replaced with the new Devils logo and the plastic signs on the shot board will have to go as well.

I don't know when they will start working on it, but I home they get it done sooner rather than later. Remember when the new video scoreboard went in and there was concern that it wouldn't be up and running before opening day? I would hate to see that happen with this stuff with the new organization coming to town.

I'm already looking forward to October.
