The bitter cold temperatures we've experience so far this winter have kept our home heating systems working around the clock. The United States Fire Association reports there are over 50,000 fires caused by heating systems each year.

Many of the fires are contained within the system, but others spread throughout the home destroying everything in it path, and some cause deaths.

I have two heaters in my home and I have them maintained properly each year. It's important to keep your system running the best it can. Not only will efficiency save you money on fuel, but it will also give you peace of mind that your home is safe.

I also have CO2 detectors, and smoke alarms in my home.

The America Red Cross has more tips to help keep your home safe year round. Please check your heating system, often in these cold winter months, it just may save your life!
