Why Surprises are Good for You
Remember the first time you got a gift? Excitedly you opened it! And there it was a gift just for you. Someone thought enough of you to give you something. Wow!
We had plenty of those experiences growing up, but how about as adults? Not so much. That's why it is great to get a surprise every once in a while. Your endorphins elevate and so does your feeling of self worth. Not only that, but you feel like giving back.
Being on the receiving end of a surprise is heart healthy too. It lowers the blood pressure and stress levels. It goes without saying that mentally it's good "therapy".
This is why I am a big supporter of adults acting like children for holidays and birthdays. Why shouldn't we? We work hard and we deserve a little excitement like that again. Keep this in mind when someone asks what you want for your birthday or holiday.
