The date: April 26th, 1969. The setting: The Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco, California. The band: Led Zeppelin.

It was on this date that Robert Plant and company performed for the first time on stage, the classic Whole Lotta Love.  That song comes from Led Zeppelin's second album titled 'Led Zeppelin II.'

The song Whole Lotta Love landed on many best rock songs of all time lists and landed in the top five singles charts in several countries. In the US, the song peaked at number four.

I have to say, this song is one of my all time favorite Led Zeppelin songs. When we play it on The Whale, I crank the speakers. Those sitting in our adjoining sister radio station studios are not too pleased though, since the sound kind of bleeds through the walls. Oh well, I say.

For this week's Classic Rock Pick, I found on YouTube, the performance Whole Lotta Love in 1969 at The Winterland Ballroom for you to enjoy.
