My husband and I love the fact that we can travel just over three hours and be in our own personal paradise, at our secluded lakeside cabin in Canada. What we don't love is the cost of gas once we cross the border.

Did you know that gas is sold by the liter in Canada, rather than by the gallon? We did the math and at $1.15 a liter, we were paying about $3.50 for a gallon of gas in Ontario. We were happy when we crossed the border back into the states and only had to pay $2.80 per gallon which is, in my opinion, still ridiculously high but I'll take the 70 cent discount in the states!

I wish we could go back to the days where we could fill up our tank with enough gas to get us where we needed to go and back with just the change that we found in the couch cushions. Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see those days again.

Feel like your bank account weeps each time you have to pay for gas? Know before you go and save some money. You might not save a ton, but every little bit helps, right?

Here's where you'll find the cheapest gas in Binghamton:
