Fall is here and with it, a whole different set of activities than summer. Apples, Octoberfests and so much more await you in the Southern Tier! Enjoy.

Kick off your weekend with a Brooks BBQ at Tractor Supply, 154 Vestal Parkway West today from 3:30 pm until sold out. Supports the Broome County Senior Games.

Then, St. James Church, 147 Main Street in JC, will have a "Night In A Box" tonight. High schoolers will be spending a night in the parking lot with only cardboard boxes and blankets to raise awareness and donations for our area homeless. Donations will be taken from 8 to 11 pm.

The Endicott Elks, 619 Nanticoke Avenue, has a Friday Dinner featuring City Chicken along with their regular menu, from 5 to 7 pm. On Saturday from 7 to 11 pm, they present Rich Wilson Hypnosis then music.

Applefest is Saturday at the Ball flatts in Greene from 9am to 4 pm. Don't miss the live music, Lions chicken barbecue, food booths, baked goods, childrens, activities and a breakfast at the Zion Episcopal Church from 7 to 9 am. Free admission! No pets please.

Also in Greene, the Tina Turner Memorial Golf Tournament at Genegantslet Golf Course entertainment afterwards, beginning at 7 pm features the Mick Hayes Band and more! Benefits the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

You can also take your pick of these activities: Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 W. Main Street in Endicott, is Saturday from 9am to 2 pm with a bag sale at 1. There is a benefit for Dan Rogers, a Binghamton native recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, on Saturday from 1 to 6 pm at the American Legion, 1 Grace Street. Come support a neighbor!

And,Thompson United Methodist in Thompson PA holds a roast beef dinner on Saturday at 5 pm. Eat in or take out. Enjoy the Broome County 4-H's open house at Cornell Cooperative Extension, 840 Upper Front Street in Binghamton, from 1 to 4 pm. The free family fun includes baby animals, pumpkin decorating, kid yoga and more.

The Mountain Trail Bowhunters, 331 West Chenango Road in Castle Creek, is having a ham and turkey raffle from 6 to 9 pm with free food and soda, raffles and more! You must be 21 or older.

The American Red Cross of the Southern Tier is holding a babysitter training class at their office at 620 East Main Street in Endicott from 9 am to 4 pm. It's for kids ages 11 to 15.

American Legion Post #183, 22 Union Street in Sidney, is sponsoring a tribute fundraiser for the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department beginning at 2 pm. The fun includes  chicken barbecue, chinese auction and a band.

Sunday has a lot on tap too! The Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier's Bell of Hope 5k Run/Walk  on the grounds of Greater Binghamton Health Center, 425 Robinson St. Registration is 9 am and the race starts at 10.

St. Michael's Carpathian Festival is 11 am to 6 pm at the recreation center, 298 Clinton Street in Binghamton. There will be church tours, children's games, raffles, dancers and more!

The Endicott Elks #1977,619 Nanticoke Ave., will have a breakfast buffet from 8 to 11:30 am. All are welcome!

The Broome County Council of Churches sponsors a Fall Festival and 5k run/walk at Arnold Park in Vestal from 10 am to 6 pm. Fun for the whole family! Benefits CHOW.

The Vestal Community Chorus has an open house on Monday at the former Central Junior High School. Rehearsals begin at 7 pm. For information, call Barbara at 754-5710.
