August is a busy, busy month in the Southern Tier! if you've got free time, there is something happening for you to see.

One of the coolest events is the the American Civic Association's Multi-Ethnic Garlic Festival on Saturday and Sunday. Daily entertainment is scheduled plus dance demonstrations, foods vendors and more! The event is at the ACA building 131 Front Street in Binghamton.

If your hungry for Halupki, then stop by the Endicott Elks Friday dinner, held every week, tonight at the lodge at 619 Nanticoke Avenue in Endicott! They serve from 5 to 7 pm.

Then there is the standard delicious chicken barbecue! This one is at the Triangle Fire Station on Route 206 from noon til it's gone.

There's an ice cream social at the Vestal Center United Methodist Church, 475 West Hill Road in Vestal on Friday from 6 to 8 pm. Free will offering will be accepted.

I know you have to wait for this one, but it's ice cream! An ice cream social at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 200 Jefferson Ave in Endicott, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm!

Also on Wednesday , it's an ice cream social at the Children's Home, 1182 Chenango Street in Binghamton, from 5 to 8 pm. More food and childrens activities too! Call for details: 772-6904 extension 289.

Or how about a breakfast buffett at the Kalurah Shrine, 625 Dickson Street in Endicott, on Sunday from 8 to 11 am? Yum!

American legion Post 1194, West Service Road in Hill Crest, is holding a chicken barbecue on Sunday  from 11 am til gone. Grab 'em early!

Binghamton Classic Films is showing the James Cagney 1938 movie "Angels With Dirty Faces" on Saturday at 7 pm at BCC's Titchener Hall.

The 2nd Invictus 5k run/walk for the Boys & Girls Club of Western Broome is Saturday at 9 am at the Club's Family Center in Endicott. For details, call 754-0225.

Beth David Synagogue, 39 Riverside Dr in Binghamton, holds a rummage sale on Sunday from 10:30 am to 4 pm, Monday from 9:30 am to 4 pm and Tuesday with their bag sale from 9:30 to 11:30 am.

The Scleroderma Foundation's Tri-State Chapter is hosting an educational forum, Caring for the Caregiver, on Saturday with registration at 8:30 am and the forum from 9 am to 3 pm at the Double Tree by Hilton (formerly Riverwalk Hotel) in Binghamton. For info, call 723-2239.
