What’s Happening This Weekend in Binghamton

The diversity of the Southern Tier makes looking for things to do on weekends fun. this weekend is no different! Here are some choices.

The 10th Annual Choruses for CHOW benefit concert is tomorrow at 2 pm at Sarah Jane Johnson memorial UMC, on Main Street in Johnson City. You will get to see 6 area groups perform amazing music. groups include: Binghamton Downtown Singers, Montrose Christmas Chorale, Carousel Harmony Chorus, the Bronzissimo Bell Choir, Endwell Community Chorus and the Southerntiersmen Barbershop Chorus.  Tickets will be available at the door.

This event caught my eye for it's creativity and good works and fun. The 9th Annual Doug Guiles Memorial Christmas Toys for Tots Benefit Drag Show. It's tonight at 10:30 at Merlins Bar & Grill. They accept a $5 donation or a new, unwrapped toy as admission. Toys for older children are much needed.

Another community helping hand event is Sunday at the Conklin Fire Station from noon to 4 pm. it is a fundraiser for local resident Keith Russin, who is fighting an aggressive form of cancer and needs help with medical costs. There will be all kinds of activities.

There's nothing like good Holiday music! So, how about stopping by the Vestal United Methodist Church on Saturday at 7 pm for the vestal Community Chorus' Holiday Harmony Concert. Donations will be accepted.

Also on Saturday, combine your tree shopping with a chicken barbecue sale! Brilliant idea by the Boy Scout Troop 152. fresh cut trees are $25 and it's only $6 for a half chicken. it's at Route 12A, Chenango Bridge Road in the parking lot of the Brass Lantern Tavern.

For more music, you can enjoy the Owego Community Chorus concert "Christmas Joy" on Sunday at Lakeview Chapel, Day Hollow Road in Owego. it's Sunday at 3 pm.

Santa makes a stop for Breakfast with Santa at the Kalurah Shrine, 625 Dickson Street in Endicott, on Sunday from 8 to 11 am.

For more chicken barbecue, it's a Brooks Barbecue at the parking lot of the Vestal Public Library, from 11 am to 2 pm. Sponsored by the fine folks at the Vestal Sertoma Club.

Got to love a Holiday bazaar! There is one at the Harpursville UMC on Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm along with a bake sale. Browse and buy.

For more music, it's Jazz Vespers at the First Congregational Church, 30 Main Street in Binghamton, on Sunday from 5 to 6 pm. It features the jazz quartet eNeRJee.
