  • There will be a benefit for Jim Bender, a local musician who suffered a stroke, on Sunday, September 20th at the Elks Lodge on Nanticoke Ave, Endicott, from 2 to 6pm. Spaghetti dinner, raffles, live music and more.
  • The Chow Hunger Walk 2015 is September 20th on Binghamton University campus. Registration is at 1pm at the Easy Gym with the walk beginning at 2. Learn more at the Chow Hunger Walk Facebook page.
  • Saint Michael’s Carpathian Festival in Sunday, September 20th from 11 to 6 at Saint Michael’s Recreation Center, 298 Clinton Street, Binghamton. Food, children’s games, raffles, and music.
  • The 2015 Olde Time Cruise-In and Family Day at Warren Township Community Center in Warren Center is Sunday, September 20th starting at 9 am. Free admission. Classic vehicles, live music, and food.
  • Be sure to register for the First Annual 4-H Clover 5K Run/Walk at 4-H Camp Shankitunk, 2420 Arbor Hill Road. The event is Saturday, September 26 with the Kids Fun Run starting at 9:00 am, and the 5K Run/Walk starting at 9:30am. All proceeds help Delaware County 4-H.   • There will be a ham dinner at the Harpursville United Methodist Church, Route 79, on September 19th from 4:30 to 7pm. Ham, mashed potatoes, beverages, cake and more. Adults … eight dollars; children five through twelve … 3-50.
  • There will be a Brooks Barbeque fundraiser for the Broome Senior Games, Friday, September 25th from 3:30 to 6:30pm in the parking lot of the Tractor Supply Company, 154 Vestal Parkway west. Nine dollars for chicken dinners; eleven dollars for rib dinners.
  • The Owego Lions Club is having their 4th annual Chinese Auction, September 19th beginning at 6pm at the Community Center, 9 Sheldon Guile Boulevard, Owego. Fun for the whole family, with all profits going back to the local community.
  • There is a “Help Raise the Barn” pasta dinner and trivia night to help the Martin family of Nichols rebuild their horse barn destroyed by fire. The event is Sunday, September 27th from 11 to 6 at the Owego VFW, 207 Main Street, Owego. A ten dollar donation includes dinner and trivia. 50/50 and basket raffles too.
  • The Kenzee Carnival and Barbeque – with proceeds benefitting a scholarship fund for local high school seniors – is Saturday, September 26th at the West Windsor Fire Station, exit 77 off Route 17. Chicken BBQ dinner and Basket Raffles, plus free bounce house, games, prizes, face painting, cotton candy, popcorn and cupcakes. Admission is a bag of returnable bottles and cans.   • The Broome County Public Library, 185 Court Street, Binghamton, hosts a Books and Reading Canine Program event, Saturday, September 26th for 10am to noon. It’s a chance for children to improve their reading and communication skills by reading to registered therapy dogs in a relaxed, safe and fun environment. To learn more call 778-6456.
  • The Binghamton Zoo hosts a Stroller Safari, September 28th featuring barnyard animals, and September 30th featuring penguins. Your little ones will hear a zookeeper talk, experience an up-close animal encounter, and get an activity page to take home. Safaris begin at 10am at the ticket booth.   • Thompson United Methodist Church, 586 Main Street, Thompson, P-A, is holding a Roast Beef Supper, Saturday September 26th with take-outs beginning at 4:30 and serving at 5. Adults eleven dollars, children 6 to 12 5-50, children 5 and under free.
  • The First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City, 2 Main Street, is having a chicken barbeque Saturday, September 26th from 10am until sold out. Half barbeque chicken is five dollars; dinners are 7-50.
