Looking for things to do in our community? Here’s what's going on around the Greater Binghamton area over the next week.

  • There is a benefit for Owego firefighter and 9-11 first-responder Tom Taft to help aide his battle against lung cancer … on Saturday, July 25th from 3 to 8pm at the Newark Valley fire deparment. Fifteen dollar per person donation, kids under 12 are five dollars … includes steak, burgers, hot dogs, sides and soda. There will also be raffles, 50-50, music, a bounce house and more.
  • Join in the “Walk to Defeat  ALS” on Saturday, July 25th at Otsiningo Park in Binghamton. Sign in at 10am … walks begins at 11.
  • Saint Cyril’s parish festival is Sunday July 26th from 11:30 to 6:30 at 148 Clinton Street Binghamton. Live music, food, games and a $3000 raffle. Admission is free.
  • The fourth annual Invictus 5k run/walk to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Western Broome is on August 8th, with registration taking place until July 24th for a shirt, or by July 31st without a shirt. Call 754-0225 to learn more.
  • The Bad Dogs Annual Benefit Run for Wounded Warriors is August 8th, starting at the Buffalo Head Bar & Grill, Conklin. Sign ups at 10am, ride leaves at noon. Fifteen dollars per person. To learn more call Marty Aldrich at 570-396-8740.
  • There is a pasta fundraising dinner on August 6th at 5pm at the Broome West Senior Center, 2801 Wayne Street, Endwell, to benefit the Broome County Senior Games. Cost is 7 dollars for adults, 4 dollars for children 12 and under, children 3 and under are free.
  • The Vacation Bible School at Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church, 918 Upper Front Street Binghamton, is holding “Operation Overboard” August 3rd through August 6th from 6 to 8pm where pre-K to 6th graders can explore the underwater universe.
  • The next Valley Social Dance is August 7th from 7 to 11pm at the VFW Post 536 banquet room, 932 West Lockhart Street, Sayre, P-A. Music, refreshments and prizes. For more info call 570-888-0145.
