It's a beautiful weekend in the Southern Tier and another chance to relax with the family. Here are some weekend events you might want to check out.

There are two benefits for area residents. It's always good to reach out a hand!

First,there is a benefit for Serenity Lynne, a 4 year old with kidney cancer, to help her family on Saturday at Montrose United Fire Hall in PA. Home cooked buffet meal, bake sale, raffle, music and more. $10 per adult and $5 for children 5 and over. Then a benefit pasta dinner for Damon Zareski who's fighting melanoma on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Sons of Italy on Odell Avenue in Endicott.

Summer is about parties, so how about this? Calvary's Love Assembly of God's annual Fun Fest is Saturday from noon to 4 pm at Floral Park in JC. Free lunch, free groceries and prizes!

Union Center United Methodist Church, 128 Maple Drive in Endicott, hosts a free children's carnival on Saturday from noon to 5 pm. Free food, games, prizes and more! For kids 12 and under.

If it's food you're looking for, there's a roast beef supper at the Thompson United Methodist Church in Thompson PA on Saturday at 5 pm. Eat in or take out.

Saturday also offers the Summer Christian Music Celebration at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 731 Hooper Road in Endwell from 12:30 to 9 pm. It is also Sunday from 1 to 7 pm.

And on Saturday, the Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross offers a babysitter's training class, at the chapter office 620 East Main Street in Endicott, from 9 am to 4 pm. The program is open for kids ages 11 to 15 and offers training in emergency care and being an effective and safe caregiver.
