As summer winds down, the activities seem to pick up! After a week of excitement with the college kids rolling back into town and the President's visit, it's time to relax! Here are some ideas for you.

Let's start with the 7TH annual Gusto - A taste of Little Italy Endicott!  It's tonight at 5 pm at the corner of Oak Hill Ave and Witherill Street near the George W. Johnson park. It's a neighborhood block party with music, food and fun!

Saturday, the Lisle Fire Company holds the 2nd annual Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday at Ford Hill Country Club in Whitney Point. It's a captain/crew event with a 9 am shotgun start. Contact Ford Hill for info 692-8938.

Also on Saturday, the Thompson United Methodist Church, Thompson PA, is hosting a roast beef supper on Saturday at 5 pm. Eat in or take out.

It's a block party at the First Baptist Church of Endicott on Saturday too. I love a good block party and this one has live music, refreshments, activities for the kids and backpack giveaways. Join the fun from 1 to 3 pm.

Sunday is the annual Broome County Firefighter's clambake from noon to 5 at Mountain Top Grove, Hance Road in Binghamton. Tickets are $45 at the door.  Yum!

The Endicott Elks Friday night dinner features clams zuppita. Dinner is 5 to 7 pm. The lodge is at 619 Nanticoke Avenue in Endicott.

Maine EMS is hosting a chicken barbecue on Saturday from 3 to 6 pm in the parking lot, 2658 Route 2. Get there early.

For more barbecue goodness, the 12th T. Ward Giblin Memorial chicken barbecue at the Knights of Columbus #206 Hall on 136 Park Ave in Binghamton. It's from noon til gone!

The Nanticoke United Methodist Church in Nanticoke, NY hosts a chicken barbecue from noon to 4 pm on Saturday. you can never have too many barbecues!

If you are a Teddy Bear Fan, the Teddy Bear Show, featuring all things teddy is going on through Sunday at the Double tree by Hilton in Binghamton. Proceeds partially benefit the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park. Visit www.tbai.org for details.

The 5th annual Stand Down for less fortunate veterans and their families at Case Mansion 108 South Street in Auburn, is Saturday from 9:30 am to 3 pm. Rain or shine! For details, call 315-415-6142. great cause. make sure you check it out.

For yard sale fun on Saturday, head to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 32 Main Street in Oxford, is hosting a joint sale with Zion and St. Anne's. Check it out from 8 am to 2 pm.

The Apalachin Fire Company Fire Departments Auxiliary is having a Doug's Fish Fry this coming Thursday from 11 am to 6 pm at Station One. There will be drinks to buy as well.
