What To Do When You Are Feeling Down
We all have our bad days, weeks, months, and hours throughout our lives but what are you doing to fix them?! Lucky for you, I have thought long and hard about this seeing as I am generally not an unhappy person but hey, I am a human being so of course I have my down times.
1. I consistently think, “Am I a good person?” If I can get up in the morning, look in the mirror and answer that question with a “Yes.” then it’s all good. Now, if your answer was no, then you can absolutely change that! Work on it every day so the next day you get up, the answer is YES!
It may sound simple and silly but for me, being a good person is one of the most important qualities one can have.
2. Does it matter it matter in the grand scheme of things? Odds are, no it probably doesn’t but little things always seem to bother us. Just take a minute to breathe, relax and remember all of the good things you have in your life to be grateful for.
Have I, along with everyone else been treated wrong or unfairly in my life? Yes, of course. But, I do have a lot of things to be thankful for that others may not. I have a great family, I have friends, I have a job, a cat and if I want to go out and enjoy myself on the weekends, I can most certainly do that. There are certain things you can’t change so work on the ones you can change.
3. Listen to an inspiring song, poem, or read a bit from an inspirational book. To me, music is my escape for everything. When I get stressed, I just think of a specific song that describes how ya know what, life hurts but it’s not that bad and we can change it, help others and become a positive force instead of a negative one. I literally sing this song in my head when I am starting to feel down and even if it doesn’t fix the problem, it certainly helps.
4. Go do something! Work got you down? Go take a walk. Go home or out for lunch. Nothing in this life is more important than your well being, remember that. YOU are the single most important thing in your life so make sure you take care of yourself because if you don’t, how can you expect to help others?
