Wrestling Gone from the Olympics? Are you Freakin Kidding Me?

The International Olympic Committee has decided, in their infamous wisdom, to put wrestling on the chopping block when it comes to The Summer Olympic Games.

I'm on record as saying that dropping an inexpensive, global sport that has always been in the Olympics is more of an inexcusable exercise in the galactically stupid!

Being a former wrestler, I can say from a personal standpoint, that there is no more pure sport. Wrestling goes all the way back to the Ancient Games,  and is even mentioned in the book of Genesis. All that is needed is a singlet, wrestling shoes, amazing skill, stamina and strength. How much $$ does that all cost?
NOT MUCH!
I can think of at least 5 other sports that should get the axe, before wrestling.

1) Badminton..... Badminton was first held as a demonstration sport at the 1972 Summer Olympics. In 1988 it again appeared at the Olympics as an exhibition sport.
Anything that's commonly played in your backyard with a 'shuttlecock,' and a game set you picked up at Big Lots, should get spiked, before wrestling.

2) Synchronized swimming..... This 'sport' was introduced to the Olympic Games for the 1984 Games in LA. Only women compete in the Synchronized Swimming events at the Olympic Games. Treading water with colorful swimming caps? It's a survival technique, not an Olympic Caliber Sport.

3) Table Tennis... Who are you trying to kid? This is Ping Pong!  And anything played in your parents basement, set up on top of dads pool table, should not be allowed as an Olympic Sport.  EDITORS NOTE: (now if it involves cups of beer, then it most definitely should not be cut from the Summer Olympic Games.)
4.) Race walking -- This is simply ridiculous... Enough Said!

5.) Modern Pentathlon -- George Patton finished fifth in the first competition in 1912. Wrestling requires a mat and a singlet. Modern pentathlon needs a horse, gun, pool and swords. That sounds less like an Olympic sport and more like an afternoon at OJ Simpson's House.
