What in the World is a ‘Furry Convention’?

You may have heard about a chlorine leak during a Furry Convention over the weekend, and that 19 convention goers were hospitalized. If you were like me, when you heard the words "furry convention", you looked puzzled.

What the heck is that anyway?

A Furry Convention is when members of the furry fandom get decked out in their costumes and meet up. Next question, why?

Everyone has a hobby and the people in this case like anthropomorphic animals with human characteristics. The whole concept of being a fan came in 1980 during a science fiction convention.

Okay, now that makes sense! By the way, it costs upwards of $3000 to create one of the costumes! That is a serious hobby!

If you take a look around, there are many examples of these "furries" that we grew up with. Robin Hood (a fox) in the Disney version of the tale comes to mind!

Now that we know what it is, we can appreciate the Furry Convention at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare. Does anyone else see the humor in the location? Hair. Funny stuff!
