Yesterday afternoon, our boss treated the entire Town Square Media Binghamton team to an afternoon baseball game. We had a skybox full of food including spiedies, hot dogs, pizza, salad, and a huge selection of beverages. We were all part of the sold-out crowd that watched a great game between the Portland Sea Dogs and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. It was Super Soaker Day at the ballpark. The stands were packed with kids that were getting sprayed with water in between innings.

Portland ended up beating Binghamton 2 to 1 with a little help from the umpires. With a runner on first base, Portland's Jansen Witte hit a double into right-center field. Kevin Taylor fielded the ball and hit the cutoff man Josh Allen, who in turn relayed the throw to Jose Garcia at home plate. From our vantage point we could see that Garcia clearly tagged the Portland player who is sliding into home plate. The umpire called him safe and that ultimately cost the Rumble Ponies the game. We were all yelling and booing from our skybox. Binghamton had its chances though, included leaving the bases loaded midway through the game.

Even though Binghamton and did not win, we all had a great time hanging out with all our fellow coworkers. Don Morgan, Doug Mosher and other staff members from our sister stations all got to hang out together and enjoy the game. I feel bad for our new mid-day host Nikki Cruze. She had to stay at the station and hold down the fort. I guess I should have brought a spiedie and a beer back for her, but I went home right after the game.
