The Owego Apalachin School District can go ahead with plans to make $24,475,785 in improvements.

The planned projects range from the security in the main office to bathrooms, sports fields and even a cafe.

The district says the proposed project focuses on bringing facilities up to date facilities, “expanding students opportunities and improving the overall efficiency, health and safety of our buildings.”

Voters yesterday approved the capital project proposal 271-225.

In addition to some of the security and aesthetics, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math learning space additions and classroom technology plans are in the blueprint along with vehicle and foot traffic reconfiguration.

The work is being paid through $19,359,352 in building aid, $2,000,000 from the capital reserve, $1,753,478 from a smart schools bond and $1,362,955 in retiring debt.
