Voters in the Vestal School District give the green light to spending $34.7 million for renovations and upgrades at all seven school properties.

Residents voted 591 to 390 in favor of the capital improvements proposal yesterday.

Improvements include upgrades to the cafeteria, library, classrooms, gymnasium and security as well replacing lockers and installing artificial turf on baseball and softball fields.

Officials say 60% of the cost would be covered by New York State Building Aid, 25% by the district reserve and the rest being covered by the tax base.
