The banks, schools and federal buildings are not closed, but millions of Americans, and millions of people around the world,  will show their feelings for the one person they romantically love, with gifts and special attention.

Valentines day is the second biggest day for greeting cards, (Christmas is number one) February 14th is a big day for Florists, Jewelers, restaurants and other retail businesses.

When I was a kid, we would exchange valentines with the entire class, I remember my mom buying us a package of valentines cards, and we would sit at the table and personalize every one for the kids in our class. I don't know if they still do that, probably not, but it was fun coming home with all those cards.

My wife and I exchange cards and little gifts, but we don't go overboard on expense.

I think it's important to show that special someone you care about them, and it doesn't take much, a card, flowers, and maybe a nice thoughtful gift to show you really care.

To all you lovers, young and old, Happy Valentines day.
