Union-Endicott High School's Athletic Hall of Fame added two new members February 13t in a ceremony at halftime of the Tigers' girls home basketball game with Horseheads.  Honored were softball standouts Nikki Matisi from the Class of 2001 and Laura Belardinelli from the Class of 2003. Both were three- sport standouts for the Tigers. But they made their mark on the softball field.

Matisi  was a starting pitcher for the U-E softball team from 1999-2001.  During that span she set a school record (good until 2013) with 42 career victories. She had a sparkling ERA of 0.66  and is in the top ten of every Tiger pitching category.  Matisi keyed U-E to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship game with nine shutout innings only to have the Tigers fall short in the 12th inning to finish second in the state. She went on to star at American International College.

Belardinelli broke Matisi's school ERA record sporting an incredible 0.43 mark during her Tiger career.  She finished in the top five of every pitching category at Union-Endicott.  She was also a tremendous hitter and is in the school's top-ten listing in several categories.  Belardinelli earned a scholarship to play softball at the University of Pittsburgh. She was named a Big East Academic All-Star during her senior season. Following graduation from Pitt she went on to play professionally in Europe.
