The UMass Lowell River Hawks earned their first America East conference win of the season with a 79-71 victory over the Binghamton Bearcats at the Events Center on Sunday afternoon.  The win upped UMass Lowell's record to 1-5 while Binghamton drops to 1-5.

J.C.Show led all scorers with 26 points and was 4-4 at the free throw line.  Everson Davis hit for 15 points and Thomas Bruce added 13 points.  Bruce also set a school Division I rebound record grabbing 19 boards for a double-double.

Matt Harris led the River Hawks with 24 points including 16 in the first half.  He and Show each had 16 points in the first half. Jahad Thomas who came in averaging over 19 points per game was held to two points in the first half but finished with 14 points with a dozen coming in the second half. Forward Josh Gantz scored 19 points including 13 points scored in the second half.

Binghamton trailed 33-28 at the half despite being up at one point by ten points.  The River Hawks outscored the Bearcats 46-43 in the second half.

Next up for the Bearcats is a trip to UMBC to meet the Retrievers on Wednesday night.  Tipoff is set for 7 PM with air at 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
