Uber in Binghamton is reporting that, during its first year operating in the Parlor City, a majority of its customers appear to be students with the #1 drop off location the Binghamton University Events Center.

Riders were mostly being dropped off around Binghamton University, SUNY Broome Community College, the downtown bus station, the U-Club apartments (student housing), CopperTop Tavern, Dillingers Celtic Pub and the Rathskeller and Colonial bars downtown as well as shopping locations in Binghamton, Vestal and Johnson City.

Uber says the longest ride from Binghamton was 343 miles to Providence, Rhode Island.

The busiest times of the week for ride requests over the year were weekend evenings and nights and commute times.

The ride-hailing company reports a culturally diverse rider base with customers hailing from 66 countries, including the United States.

June 29th marked the 1 year anniversary of the start of the service in the Binghamton area after ride-hailing companies had previously only been allowed mainly in New York City.  That changed when legislation was passed in Albany to allow services like Uber and Lyft to expand to other communities in New York State.
