At least three people died and several others were reported hurt after a tractor-trailer collided with a bus on a Pennsylvania interstate highway.

According to WNEP-TV in Scranton, the crash on I-380 in Tobyhanna township happened after 10:00 Wednesday morning.

The collision occurred in the northbound lanes of the highway between the Mount Pocono and Tobyhanna exits.

Emergency officials confirmed at least three people were dead and thirteen other passengers were injured. Reports indicated the bus driver was one of those who died.

Medical helicopters were used to transport passengers to hospitals in the region.

WNEP reported it appeared the southbound truck veered across the median and collided with the northbound bus.

The station reported the truck driver escaped serious injury.

I-380 was closed in both directions for a few hours as a state police reconstruction team started its investigation.
