Endicott police say two men suspected of stealing items from vehicles were taken into custody with assistance from Broome County sheriff's deputies.

Investigators say 18-year-old Jeremiah Hazen of the town of Union and 18-year-old Matthew Gordon of Endicott were charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. Hazen also was charged with resisting arrest.

Police say the suspects were seen entering vehicles in the 400 block of Prescott Avenue in Endicott early Monday morning.

The two fled before a village police officer arrived. They were found a short time later with the aid of sheriff's deputies and a K-9 officer.

Police say Hazen and Gordon were found to be in possession of items taken from parked vehicles, including chewing tobacco, flashlights and an iPod portable media player.

One of the men was taken into custody on Robble Avenue, while the other was tracked to the village's North Side Park.

Hazen and Gordon were arraigned in Endicott village court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
