Love baseball or just just curious about the history of the sport? Well, Cooperstown, NY is the best pace to learn and love the game of baseball.

It's all part of our Trip on a Tank series, finding come awesome places to visit that would cost you a tank of gas or less from the Binghamton area. I've been to Cooperstown few times, visited the Baseball Hall of Fame each time, and found there's always something new to experience.

The first cool thing is, once you pay your admission, you can leave, tour the rest of Cooperstown, and then return to the Baseball Hall of Fame without having to pay another admission price.

It's a self guided tour with 3 stories to explore. The Hall of Fame leaves no bit of baseball history untouched. You will learn the history of the game including the roles of women, Latinos and African Americans. There's even a locker room section of the museum where you can see the lockers from baseball teams with outfits worn by players in actual games as well as special game memorabilia.

There's much to see, and you are welcome to take pictures and video. The National Baseball Hall of Fame is open 7 days a week, but is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Summer hours (May 24th through the day before Labor Day) are 9am to 9pm. Regular hours (Labor Day through Memorial Day Weekend) are 9am-5pm.
