Emergency Responders are working at the scene of a train derailment reported in Delaware County near the Broome County line at 3 a.m. August 9.

Broome County's Hazardous Materials Team was called out to the scene at Hale Eddy Bridge Road and Hale Eddy Road in Deposit on the Delaware County side of the line at around quarter after 3.

Initial reports indicated the train cars involved may contain corrosive materials.

As of around 7 a.m. there had been word from the New York State Police that it's believed the cars left the tracks as a result of flash flooding and the torrential rain the previous evening.

New York State Police and Broome County authorities were unable to say how many cars may have skipped the tracks.  State Police said there were "multiple agencies" on the scene including officials from the Norfolk Southern Railroad.  There has been no word on if anyone has been hurt.

WNBF will have more information on this story as it develops.
