Tractor Trailer Vs. Snow Plow Crash in Marathon

The investigation is continuing into a collision between a tractor trailer and a snow plow at 6 a.m. January 17 in Cortland County.

Sheriff’s officials say the Town of Marathon plow truck backed up onto Route 221 from Deans Pond Road into the path of the tractor trailer owned by Kinetic Engineering Limited.  The tractor trailer swerved but hit the rear of the plow truck driven by Randy Ensign of Marathon.

The tractor trailer continued traveling east into the other lane of traffic and off the road before coming to a stop, partially overturned in a ditch.

There were no injuries.

The truck was carrying a load of sand with a combined weight of over 100,000 pounds.

Route 221 was closed for about 3 hours.
