The trial date for a Town of Maine man accused of killing his girlfriend last December will be set in upcoming weeks after 33 year old Michael Fiocco entered a not-guilty plea to second degree murder during his arraignment in Broome County Court March 13.

Fiocco reportedly called 911 himself, requesting an ambulance to come to the couple’s mobile home at the Nanticoke Valley Trailer Park on December 19.

Fiocco met the responding Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy at the door and took him to the rear of the mobile home where the body of 34 year old Shannon Laskaris was found on the floor.

An autopsy determined the woman died as a result of asphyxiation by strangulation.

Police say the couple, who had a child together, had a long history of domestic violence incidents.

The next step is a pre-trial conference scheduled for March 18. Meanwhile, Fiocco remains in the Broome County Jail without bail.
