For this week's Classic Rock Pick, let's look back on June 7th, 1970. It was an important date for a band who called themselves The Who.

Roger, Pete, John and Keith were in the Big Apple as part of their U.S. tour performing the rock opera 'Tommy.' This performance took place at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.

'Tommy' was written by Pete Townsend and The Who were performing the opera at several opera houses around the world. The U.S. tour included 30 dates.

When the album came out, I loved it to the point of wearing out the record. Same thing when the movie soundtrack came out years later. Have to admit, I prefered that to the original. It's a heated debate over which version is better.

For this week's Classic Rock Pick, check out The Who's Overture from the album 'Tommy.'
