Gaming regulators in New York State are giving full casino licenses to developments in Sullivan County, Schenectady and Tyre in the Finger Lakes while they continue to review Tioga Downs’ application.

Meanwhile, the Tioga County racino is outlining its hiring plans to local leaders.

Owners say they plan to draw from local resources and the local workforce should the slot parlor and harness track be allowed to expand into a full service casino and resort.

Officials say over half the positions expected to become available are dealers for poker and other table games.

Training classes are planned that will be free to the public to learn the games

Tioga Downs executives say a career summit is now planned for December 28 from noon to 4 p.m. at the facility in Nichols.

The session is an informational summit where interested prospective employees can find out about job opportunities and how and when they can apply.

There will be no actual hiring at the summit, however.
