I tend to hold onto things for much longer that I should at times.

It depends what that 'thing' is. If it's something to do with DJ equipment, I seem to replace items much quicker than is probably needed, but how can you say no to that bigger pair of speakers, or more powerful amplifier? I upgraded campers 4 times in 10 years. Of course that means I will continually pay for it monthly until I die.

Things that I will not replace until absolutely necessary are items like refrigerators (20 years), stoves (15 and counting), dishwashers (at least 15 years old) , cars (I have a 2001 van), clothes  (don't ask, and don't laugh at my bell bottoms) and lawn mowers (purchase dates unknown). I have 3 mowers. 2 are push gas mowers and 1 old fashion, no engine mower. That one gives you a workout.

Since I don't have much lawn at home, the gas mower (which is over 10 years old) sits in the shed  most of time, as I use the motor-less one in the backyard. At the campground, a use a lawn mower that's at least 20 years old (one that I bought used.)

Last weekend, the mower at the campground had some issues. The spark plug wire kept coming loose, so it was hard to keep running. Then the pull cord broke to the point I couldn't reach in to fix it. Then I noticed one of the tires had broken (all plastic.) That was it. I sold the contraption for 5 bucks. My next thought was to bring the mower from home to the campground. Well, after I pulled it out of the shed, I noticed the right back corner had rusted away leaving a pretty sizable gap where if used, would mean lots of grass being thrown up in my face. One weekend, two dead lawnmowers.

Fast forward to 2 days later, I'm bringing to the campground a new shiny 21 inch deluxe mower. I'll run that into the ground too. Just give me some time.
