The show that launched John Travolta's successful career, where we first heard the term "Sweathogs", and the theme song that went to #1 on the US charts. What show am I talking about?

'Welcome Back Kotter', of course! The show premiered on September 9, 1975 and ended his four season run in 1979.

I loved the catchphrases, "Up your nose with a rubber hose.", and "Ooh, ooh, Mr. Kotter.", and even, "Heyyyy, Missster Kottaire!"

Gabe Kaplan was the show's writer and star. He based the show on his personal experiences in an underachieving classroom in the 1960's. Kaplan was absence from much of the final season due to creative differences with the show.

I'll catch some of the old reruns once in a while on the classic TV stations, and it brings me back to my school days in the 1970's.

Check out my Throwback Thursday memory this week - 'Welcome Back Kotter'! Enjoy some memorable moments from the show, including the theme song, sung by John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful. Dont' forget to watch John Travolta's original screen test, too!
