It's Throwback Thursday, which means another trip back in time!

This journey will be to the the mid-70's in Central New Jersey and the time I learned what an RV was.

I was about 7 years old and my parents were going to go on a double date with family friends. They decided to have the other couple's teenage daughter babysit us. In the family Winnebago! I am not kidding. We were to hang out in this "camper" for the day.

When I saw it, it looked gigantic. I thought it was a big car until I stepped inside. There was a couch, a stove and even a tv. And the cockpit was in there too. A house you can drive? No way. That was the day I decided I wanted one for myself.

Can you imagine a 7 year old getting to explore the Winnebago unchecked? I looked in every nook and cranny. I found a bathroom, a bedroom, some lights. Everything a home has, but on wheels.

The only thing I was not allowed to do was climb the ladder on the outside to the roof. I don't know why!

After the experience of treating the RV like a playroom, I look in wide eyed fascination at RVs today. I still want one when I retire, too. So, I will be going to the RV and Camper Show at the BU Events Center this weekend. Just to play! How about you come out and let the kid in you play too?
