One of the cheapest and most amusing toys of my childhood, was contained in a little plastic barrel. We had hours of fun, and I couldn’t tell you how many of these I had as a kid.

Barrel of Monkeys was introduced in 1965 by Lakeside Toys. Now, according to the instructions, you would dump the monkeys out of the barrel onto a table, and pick up one monkey by the arm, then try to hook another monkey by the other arm. The object of the game was to pick up as many monkeys as you can. The player's turn is over when a monkey is dropped.

Today Barrel of Monkeys are produced by Milton Bradley (Hasbro).

I’ve gotten the entire barrel before, but it does takes a steady hand!
