Throwback Thursday - Art Linkletter

Six years ago today we lost one of the pioneers of the television era, a man who was famous for his candid interviews with children, and various audience participation.

Art Linkletter was a revered member of the broadcast family, he made the transition from radio to television in the 1950's with one of the first game shows called 'People are Funny' which included everyday people engaging ion contests along with some funny gag bits.

Throughout the 50's and 60's Art was the host of 'Kids say The Darndest Things' in which he would interview children and ask them question while allowing them to answer in their own candid way.

Art Linkletter was born in Canada and became a US citizen, a few notables about Art, he was a big promoter and investor of the Hula Hoop, and the board game "Game of Life' in which he was on the cover of the box with the caption I highly endorse this game.

Art lived to be 97 years old, he died on May 26, 2010.

A true pioneer of both radio and television, my Throwback Thursday memory is Art Linkletter.
