This year will mark the 50th anniversary of their campy  show, which shot them to superstardom, batteling for chart supremacy with groups like the Beatles.

The show ran for two seasons, won two primetime Emmy's as the show featured four Beatle-like musicians and their adventures that (much like the Beatles cartoons) ended with a musical number with sped up footage of the group doing goofy things.

In March of 1968 after 58 episodes the show was canceled, ironically just a few short weeks after their first featured file 'Head' bombed in the theaters.

In 2004 TV Land awarded the song 'Favorite Sing-Along Theme Song'

We lost Davy Jones in 2012.

My Throwback Thursday Memory for this week is Davy Jones, Micheal Nesmith, Mickey Dolenz, and Peter Tork.

Hey Hey it's the Monkees!
