This week we celebrate the 65th anniversary of the debut of I Love Lucy, which ran from October 15, 1951 to May 6, 1957 and introduces us to America’s zaniest red head.

I Love Lucy is more than just a TV show, it is an American treasure that will be remembered and watched for decades to come.

The original cast of Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, William Frawley and Vivian Vance are all gone and have been for decades, but scroll through your list of endless cable channels, and you’ll find an episode scheduled through the course of a day.

I was scrolling through the list of actors and actresses that appeared on the show during its run, almost all are gone, except the two actors who played Little Ricky.

Mrs Trumball the babysitter played by actress Elizabeth Patterson was born in 1875, she lived to be 90.

Charles Lane who appeared on the show and many other sitcoms lived to be 102.

William Frawley and Vivian Vance were experienced actors and entertainers long before the show.

Lucille Ball was a Goldwyn girl in the 1930’s and appeared in movies for years before the show and Desi Arnaz was an established musician and band leader, and later an actor where he met Lucy.

The show had it all, comedy, friendship. Music and great storylines.
