Thousands of residents in New York's Southern Tier and the Northern Tier of Pa. turned out this Memorial Day to honor our nation's military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in giving their lives to fight for our freedom.  Some of the ceremonies that were scheduled in the early morning hours had to be moved or cancelled due to steady and at times heavy rain that moved through the area.

By early afternoon rain moved out of much of the area.  The wet weather left just in time to enable parade participants and those in attendance in Binghamton to enjoy dry conditions.  A large number of people turned out to line the parade route down Main and Court Streets to the Broome County Courthouse.

Ceremonies were held there to honor veterans and those servicemen and women who died serving our country.  Dignitaries like Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, Congresswomen Claudia Tenney and Broome County Executive Jason Garnar spoke to the crowd on hand.  An American Flag folding ceremony was held noting what each fold represented.
