I would describe myself as a fan of sports. I don't get into the frenzy of it as most sports fans do, but I have my favorites and pay attention to their progress each season.

My favorites are the New York Giants, Mets, Rangers, Syracuse Basketball and Football, Binghamton University Basketball, Binghamton Rumble Ponies and soon to be Binghamton Devils. I used to be a fan of the New York Knicks, but pro basketball kind of bores me now, so I don't pay much attention to it.

I am a big fan of playoff season, pretty much with any sport, especially college football and basketball. The level of play is exciting and very unpredictable. It's unfortunate that in these one game elimination scenarios like college basketball, if the better team is having an off night, their season is over. But with so many teams in the playoffs, I don't see where there would or could be any alternative.

Probably my favorite playoff season is college basketball which just ended. Both men and women playoffs were very exciting. I was sad to see the UConn women's winning streak end, but at the same time happy that another team - South Carolina, got to achieve the title of champions.

On the men's side, I was rooting for Gonzaga to take it all. Unfortunately, North Carolina picked up another championship in a nail biter of a game. I guess for me, it's exciting to see a team win the championship for the first time, rather than a team like UNC, who have been in the final four 20 times and have now won the championship six times, most recently in 2009. Well, maybe next year a team with no championship title will take it all...or Syracuse...I'm happy with either.
