It's no secret. Those of us in the radio industry got into the business because we are not good at manual labor. Well, maybe that's not entirely true.

We have engineers who can take a roll of duct tape along with a bunch of popsicle sticks and make a radio transmitter out of it. Or am I thinking of those items to bandage a radio transmitter to get it to work again? Either way, radio engineers are good with their hands and brains.

Maybe I'm being a bit too harsh on my co-horts. We each have our own unique, special talents. Some a bit stranger than others. What does amaze me, is how some radio personalities can come up with interesting, creative ways to entertain on the radio or develop fun ways to give away a prize.

I remember back in the late 80s (or was it the early 90s) we gave away money through a contest called Bovine Bingo. You may have heard of it. We fenced off the parking lot of a local nightclub, made 10 foot by 10 foot squares within, contracted a farmer to bring in a cow and assigned several contestants one square. Wherever the cow did his/her business (it took a while), the person with that square won the money. That's one fun contest, for sure.

Coming up with creative ideas can at times be tough, but that's our daily challenge and hopefully you get a kick out of the dumb things we come up with.
