One of the annual events that has become a summer tapestry in Greater Binghamton, the Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally turns 30 this year.

Looking back to the very first year of the event (which drew around 4,000 people) and living on the North Side of Binghamton just a few blocks from Otsiningo Park at the time, I personally never envisioned this event would someday bring in 100,000 people over a three day weekend or raise over $1 million dollars for local charities.

I think what makes this event so special is the indigenous food most of us know and enjoy year round, ‘Spiedies’

The hot air balloons that fill the sky, and the big name entertainment that has grown throughout the years.

I am excited to once again be part of the group of local radio stations that are promoting it.

On Friday August 1st 991 The Whale will present the Legendary Classic Rock Band ‘Foghat’ to kick off a weekend of great entertainment.

Check out a few of my favorite Foghat live videos and I hope to see you at the show on August 1st
