The 28th edition of the Whale Bowl of Rock-n-Roll is history. Thank you all for taking the time to call in and vote, and for many of you, winning a pizza was an added bonus!

Day 3 battles began with the remaining Final 16 round, where The Who triumphed over Bad Company, Ted Nugent picked up more votes than Queen and Led Zeppelin easily beat The Eagles.

Onto the Classic Rock final 8. ZZ Top and Pink Floyd have passionate fans, and it showed with just a 2 vote margin in favor of Floyd. Next, voters for Tom Petty kept him in the race over Creedence Clearwater Revival in a heated battle, Lynyrd Skynyrd votes were overwhelming versus The Who, and Led Zeppelin handily defeated Ted Nugent. I has hoping to see the Motor City Madman get to final round, but I guess not this year.

Next up, came the Classic Rock Big 4 round with the Pink Floyd/Tom Petty battle and Lynyrd Skynyrd taking on Led Zeppelin. Pink Floyd fans were looking make it two championships in a row, but that was not to be. Petty fans put an end to that run, and slid Tom and the Heartbreakers into the Championship Round once again. Who would Tom face for the championship? The next battle between Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin was thought to be a barn burner, but apparently Skynyrd Nation had gone out to an early dinner, because the 'Get The Led Out' crew made their votes count in a landslide.

Tom Petty has been in the final round a few times in the past, but never got enough votes to claim the title. Well, this year, that would change. While many votes were cast for Led Zeppelin, Heartbreaker fans were not to be denied and finally gave Tom Petty his first Whale Bowl championship title.

As always, the 28th annual whale Bowl of rock-n-Roll was fun, and we thank you for being a part of it. Congratulations to everyone who won pizzas, because really, that's what The Whale Bowl it's all about, right?
