Russell "Skip" Gildersleeve, a longtime fixture on the concert scene who lent his skills as a road crew member and sound engineer to a long list of acts that included Bob Seger, Steely Dan, and Rush, has died at the age of 57.
Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Rush are planning to release a document of their most recent incredibly successful stint on the road. 'Rush: Clockwork Angels Tour' will be available on Nov. 19 as a two-CD set and a DVD/Blu-ray.
Rush will release a remixed version of their 2002 album 'Vapor Trails' as well as a box set collecting all of their studio LPs for Atlantic Records in October. The new 'Trails' will also be included on the seven-disc box, which is titled 'The Studio Albums: 1989-2007.'
Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) killed more than three dozen Canadians in 2003 and prompted the country's biggest-ever rock concert. The Rolling Stones led the way in organizing what was unofficially known as SARSstock and SARSapalooza. AC/DC, the Guess Who and Rush were among the rock bands signed on for the event, which happened 10 years ago today.
Rush had to cut short their performance at the Festival D'été De Quebec music festival yesterday (July 10) because of bad weather. They were forced to play an abbreviated set after storms started rolling in.
