I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that James Kiki of Syracuse is kicking himself because that’s exactly what I’d be doing. Actually, I’m pretty sure that I’d feel like the pit of doom took up residence in my belly if this were to happen to me.

Kiki doesn’t know a whole lot about college basketball, but decided to fill out a bracket using Yahoo and was definitely on his way to winning the top prize of $50,000 because he was one of very few people in the entire county who predicted that Syracuse would show up in the Final Four.

Unfortunately, Kiki won’t win $50,000, no matter what happens this weekend, because he made the mistake of not picking the winner of Monday’s championship game.

Kiki submitted the bracket before finishing it and because his bracket is incomplete, he has been disqualified from winning the grand prize.

Ouch.

In other Syracuse Orange news, in January, the Westgate SuperBook had Syracuse listed at 1,000 to1 odds to win the NCAA tournament and even though the team was really struggling at that point, four people had faith and Westgate took those four bets, totaling $135 including a $100 ticket that would pay $100,100. I'm guessing that the oddsmakers at the Westgate SuperBook are sweating on this one!
