The Susquehanna County District Attorney Detective Unit says a Pocono Summit woman is accused of continuing to solicit donations for her registered non-profit entity after a Cease and Desist Order was issued over a complaint.

Authorities say 29 year old Nicole Covage continued to operate Fall in Ruv, Inc., which was operating as an animal rescue on Lake Avenue in Montrose, Pennsylvania.  As part of the operation, Covage also had a website and a Facebook page.

A citizen registered a complaint and the Pennsylvania Department of State noted irregularities after starting a review of the business.

Covage is being charged with theft by deception and related offenses for alleged misuse of solicited charitable funds.

She was released after posting $2,500 bail.

A statement from District Attorney Robert Klein’s Office says “Too often children and the elderly fall victim to these types of scams, either directly or indirectly.  During the holiday season it is even more important for all residents to be on guard for those who prey on the good nature of others.”
