The leaves have fallen from the thousands of trees in my backyard. Okay, maybe it's a dozen trees, but looking at all those leaves on the ground, it seems like they dropped from a thousand trees.

With that, it's time to get 'em out. Armed with my trusty rake (that's about a thousand years old) and leaf blower, I'm ready for the annual backyard war on leaves. The leaf blower is plugged in, I take aim, and pull the trigger (translation: turn the switch to 'on.')

That's when it happened. First a burst of wadded up paper and other assorted things not recognizable comes shooting out of the leaf blower nozzle. Then, about 10 seconds later, what pops out with the strong force of wind? A mouse. Flying through the air. Now that's something you don't often see. Obviously, this mouse figured that the inside of a leaf blower would make a great winter home. And it sure would, had those plans been made after leaf blowing season. Not a smart mouse for sure.

Well, after that rodent landed, my three dogs, who were out in the backyard doing their 'thing' caught the mouse flying action, and came a running. Fortunately for the mouse, it can climb walls...fast, and did so up one of my sheds, but for some reason, couldn't get up and over onto the roof. Quick thinking on my part, I aimed the leaf blower at the mouse, set it on maximum, hit the switch on, and up and over that rodent went, safe from the jaws of three dogs. Lucky mouse.
