The official start to Winter is still a solid week and a half away, but it looks like it's arriving early for the Southern Tier.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Winter Storm Warning, in effect beginning at 7 Tuesday morning and continuing through the greater portion of the week, before expiring Thursday morning.

So what does this mean for you? Grab your shovels and snow blowers! They're expecting snow, sleet and freezing rain to blanket our area with temperatures in the upper 20s. We could see anywhere from 8-14 inches of accumulating snow before this system moves on.

Here's a quick timeline of the impending storm -

Tuesday - Snow, freezing rain, and sleet will begin before 10am. Late morning this should then turn to a rain/snow mix. After 4pm expect a full change over to snow. The snowfall could be heavy at times.

Wednesday - Snow with an accumulation of an additional 2 inches.

Be prepared and use caution while traveling the next couple of days. Stay safe and stay tuned for closings and delays!
